Tonight’s photos are a mix-match of topics, but the one I’m really getting into is the Longstrike based Steampunk Rifle. I worked on it last night for about 3 hours and completed most of one side. Embellishments will be added later and weathered to match the rest of the gun. The photos don’t show the recon extension, but that will also be painted to match the rest of the gun. I hope I kept close enough to the core SP colors to make the loyalists happy.
Enjoy the photos and I will have some much better quality shots from the DSLR in the next few days!
A gray variant of the N7 Stampede. I used a smaller decal for the N7 this time, partly to avoid the poorly located screw hole on the reverse side. Definitely check out the larger photos that I’ll be posting soon, they show the weathering and I think you guys will dig the look 🙂
My latest TV Show “Firefly” Lemat pistol is getting closer to being done. I have more work on the main body, but the grips are basically done and I’m happy with how they came out. One photo shows the resin gun with the Denix metal Lemat that was apparently used for making the kit. The 2045 on the original is still visible on the cast 🙂
Progress on a grenade prop also from Firefly
I’m making a gauge with one of the decals. I’m not sure if it will be one of these or the others provided by Christopher Glas at http://vaultLOL.com. Check out his sweet Carbon Fiber Longstrike he made a while back. It’s very cool 😉 If anyone visiting knows a source for cheap steam punk appropriate bits and gauges, please shoot me a message, I’d really appreciate it!
This baby isn’t going to get painted, but it’s going to be a lifesaver as it gets colder (yes, I’m a Floridian and 50F or lower is cold after hours of exposure, hehe.
My sincere thanks for visiting my site. You guys make this all worth the long hours. Without you I would not get the enjoyment I do, so thank you. 🙂 I’ll hopefully have my kidney stone passed soon and I’ll be back to full-speed, heh.
These two Firefly pistols finished up at the same time so I was able to get a few photos with the guns together. I hope the contrast of the two guns is interesting to some of ya. Check back soon for Jayne’s pistol which should be done shortly and will be available to anyone interested in owning it. Thanks!
I’m just getting caught up with the holiday rush that’s begun so forgive the slowdown on posts 🙂 I’ve also had the opportunity to work on some projects that I’m not able to share right now, but hopefully I will after the first of the year. It’s pretty cool stuff so I’m bummed to not be able to share right now. I hope these photos will do until I get a chance to edit and upload the other photos still on the memory card! 🙂
Thanks as always for visiting. Please let me know if I can make something for ya!
All the best,
Almost another week gone with lots of progress on the guns I’m working on for clients and for my own enjoyment. 🙂 Hope you enjoy them!
Projects under way..
Most of the finished guns are available for sale immediately if you’re interested. Just shoot me an email – BCJFLA76@Gmail.com. Thanks for visiting, please let me know if I can help with your commission ideas!
Hope everyone’s getting ready for Halloween and putting the finishing touches on their costumes and decorations. For anyone who’s not into celebrating that sort of thing…happy Monday? 😉
So I finished the Wilco resin kit of Mal’s pistol from Firefly. It’s a really clean cast, but unfortunately the handle is not 100% authentic. I guess you gotta make some concessions when it comes to the more reasonably priced models. Beyond that, the gun is unmistakable. This particular version was done in the TV show’s steel color. The movie used a very bronze / brass color that also looks great.
Based on the response I plan to order more of these kits to offer to anyone else looking for a very nice display piece. You can email me directly if you’re interested. I also am more than happy to paint your provided kits for this or any other gun you happen to be a fan of. I promise you won’t be disappointed in the final results!
Enjoy the pictures and I’ll be posting some other completed projects in the next day or so. I also just received two of Jayne’s Lemat pistol as well as some other really cool resin prop kits from the show and movie. Be sure to check back soon!
All the Best,
Hey guys! I’m going to be doing a gun give-away soon and wanted to get as many people involved as possible. If you’re interested, please add me on twitter!
Thanks and see you there! More updates and progress photos, plus it easier to make suggestions or contact me 🙂
Lots of new faces today, many thanks to IGN.com and Kotaku.com for the very cool articles on my Mass Effect themed Stampede. I truly do this for fun of it and being able to share it with others is a real cool deal. I appreciate every visit and hope you guys will continue to enjoy the guns as I move into more modified bodies and less of the stock variety. That’s just been a limitation of time and having the right space for the equipment I’d like to have. Something to work for, I guess 🙂
Here’s a few more photos of some recent stuff – mostly finished or almost-so. More photos soon 🙂
You guys can also check out a few videos I’ve posted on Youtube if you want. Mostly older stuff, but some of that is pretty cool. You can find them here: http://www.youtube.com/user/BillofWrongs?feature=mhee
Ok, photo time!
Alien (Needler looking?) Blaster – Buzz Bee Tek 6
Two of the three..Stampede v2.0 is coming soon 🙂
Mass Effect themed Vigilon is almost complete, just a few more detail and some decals!
Gun prop for a small video, logos didn’t need to be sanded…whew. 🙂
Had to do another on of these! Kinda District 9 influenced coloration
Check back soon – possible drawing coming up – world-wide just so long as your country won’t try to put me in jail for mailing it to you!
Just put a bunch of extra stuff on eBay for anyone looking for a Halloween costume prop. Mixed bag of goodies and even a few of the “specialty” guns up as well. I just love fall cleaning time! 🙂
Hey folks! Been on the run this week so in leu of having a full blog update I will be posting photos from the iP4. Sorry for the quality, but I’ll get the DSLR versions up as soon as possible 🙂
Thanks for stopping by and let me know if you have any commission work I can help with. This includes unfinished resin replicas!
All the Best,
Welcome back guys! Just some phone snaps from last night showing progress on a few of the smaller guns and such. I also got my first LED working! Quite excited about where that’s going lead on the guns (mmm glowing lights..heh). Anyways, check out the photos and let me know if you’re needing something unique for Halloween or anything else coming up!
Welcome back folks, you’re just in time for the photo avalanche! I got a lot of stuff moved along enough to get some photos. I’ve also included a few that are just starting the trip, but thought you’d enjoy seeing them “before” and after.
The Vulcan is probably my favorite for this week, but I’m really liking how the N7 Maverick is coming along. That should be done soon. Expect more photos soon, I kept a lot of stuff secret for now…mysterious, right? 🙂
Have a great weekend and we’ll meet back here soon!
Ok, with all the lip flapping out of the way, on to the photos! Sorry some might be the dreaded iP4 versions, now in “Low-Rez w/ bad color correction!” 🙂
Standard issue Maverick ready for steampunk embellishments
One of my little squirt guns. I was testing out the water-slide decals made by Chris over at http://vaultlol.com. Check out his awesome Fallout props!
I think this one is Mars themed? I made it to test out doing chipping and ended up liking the different color scheme. This was kina what started all the red guns..plus I bought a lot of red paint. Waste not-want not! 🙂
The Vid-Phôn from the movie Blade Runner in a custom color scheme
Retro Mass Effect Maverick. Just for fun and still in progress
Yep, had to make some kinda Mass Effect themed Scout too
Going for a kinda “Covenant” coloration on this one. the perp color is a bit off in this photo
Just a simple brass squirtgun. I really like these for some reason..
All I can tell you is that I work long hours…and I’ve wanted to paint one since last year 🙂
Blue Halo-themed Scout with a lot of subtle color changes and whatnots..yes, I want the decal a bit (read: a lot) smaller, but the vinyl is very tough to separate when the pieces are any smaller
Ok, my clicky finger is tired. Hope you enjoyed the pics and if you like this stuff, please tell a friend. Or an enemy BEFORE you hit em. Please and Thanks! 😉
Finished up the last few bits on Vera and I think she would be recognized at a convention or something Firefly related 🙂 Hope you guys approve of how the gun came out!
(The magazine is non-functional, but I like how it came out – thanks for the assistance and blood-letting, Dad!)
Hey Gang! Just wanted to post a few progress photos. Full update soon!
I hope you all are finding your own Vortex guns at the local stores, I know I’m seeing people posting on Facebook with their “early” finds. I managed to grab a Proton and Praxis after work and have spent part of the evening shooting my walls with little green frizbees 🙂 I took a few photos of them in stock form so no shocking spy photos here, but I figured I better post a few just in case you haven’t found better ones already online.
They shoot great and I think they’ll make great props. Expect to see them worked into the schedule next week. Let the spring and screw losing being!
The Praxis – the cocking mechanism seems to delay shooting the next round for just a fraction of a second, but maybe I’m just imagining things…still love the gun and it’s design. For the price I kinda expected some scope that would compliment the gun. Ah well…just gotta buy the big daddy for that bit of kit 🙂
More photos soon – lots of new stuff 🙂
Hi folks! Just a few photos of the projects currently under-way (more unphotographed, but I’ll get those photos up soon!)
The Vigilon is just about done, just waiting on the decals and the PDK is getting close in it’s Patrolman iteration.
Vera got her bullet mount on the stock and a pretty cool slanted magazine to look more like the source material.
There’s also a semi auto pistol with tac light that’s going to pair up with a pistol-grip shotgun for use with a Fallout style costume. Should be a cool duo when they’re all done. The last gun is a simple little disk shooter we all probably owned at one time, this one just looks a bit more dangerous 🙂
Enjoy and I’ll have more to share soon!
Sorry for a short post tonight, but I wanted to get a few photos up before heading out. I painted the rear part of the Vigilon to get a sense of the color-scheme (military/HALO-ish) and from that I think the gun will look pretty cool when it’s all done. I also started breaking up the canvas that is my NERF version of Vera from the TV show Firefly. That’s one heck of a detailed prop and so I’m doing my best to replicate the different surfaces. I’m certain it will look good when it’s done, but I’m shooting for great so we’ll see how the next week goes!
Enjoy the pictures and thank you for visiting my humble little blog site. 🙂
Thanks to a generous gift in the mail today , I started work on a custom painted Nerf Vigilon from the upcoming Vortex series. It was stamped with a few odd phrases…DO. NOT. SELL. 🙂 I didn’t pay a dime, so I’m going to assume I won’t have my doors kicked in any time soon! I posted some photos below of the gun out of the box as well as into the sanding phase. It’s got putty drying right now, but tomorrow I should be ready to base coat and then get after masking this weekend. I’m really looking forward to seeing how it comes out, because I have no idea what I’m going to do with it at the moment 🙂
Stay tuned, as the photos show there are some other cool props in the works as well! Add me on facebook if you want to see more WIP photos of this and all the other silliness! facebook.com/johnson.arms
Laying out some of the loot
Thank you for visiting and stop back soon!
Harrison Krix and his team made this awesome prop for Bioware’s Comic-con booth. They made it in about 2 weeks. Incredible work 🙂 Have a look, there’s even a speed video of some weathering of another very cool Mass Effect gun.
Just a few quick photos of the gold variation. I’m feeling a bit under the weather, so this is short and schweet!
Here’s the steel one just for contrast. Have a good day/night guys!
A Smattering of stuff from the past week. Sorry a lot of them are phone photos, folks, but I don’t bring out the heavy photo weapons when it’s 120% humidity 🙂
There a lot of things in the works, so I promise there will be some neat-o things to see soon. Until then, thank you all so much for the support and commission requests. I am truly honored to have such great people around me.
Enjoy the photos and don’t forget to tell a friend…or a movie producer. 😉
Thanks for looking!
Quick little update, but I’ve been working on these for a while and wanted to share. As always, sorry for the phone camera quality!
All done with the Long Colt 45. Wanted to share it before bed! 🙂 This is a lower-quality cast, probably made from a nicer original. I did my best with fixing the imperfections, but at a certain point, the time spent starts to not make sense. Regardless, I think it came out pretty nice.
Happy weekend everyone! Finally have some blue skies here in Florida so I got some more stuff started and the current batch moved along nicely 🙂 Here are some phone photos to hold everyone over until I get the good stuff put up!
Also received the new Max Force Rifle so I’ll have a full review up soon!
All the best,
Here’s a smattering of things that I’m finishing up or in the middle of. Just got contacted today by Jakks Pacific regarding a new line of “tagger” guns along the lines of Buzzbee and NERF. I didn’t get home with enough time to check out all the great pictures, but I will tomorrow and they’re sending me a set of the new guns, so expect a review and my opinion on how they’re going to look painted up. Well of course I’m planning to paint them…hehe.
More Mass Effect style Stampede love. This buyer hated the first one (that sold the following day so I’m not offended, heh), but I think I’m right on track with this version. There’s a lot of covered tape so don’t be mislead into thinking this thing will be so solidly red 🙂 More soon!
